Thx a lot.
In Debian Sarge (as well as Ubuntu Edgy) there are automake versions
1.4, 1.6 (only Sarge), 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 available.

With Debian Etch 1.10 is available too.

Configure is done, make is in progress. Maybe I get a first working
version today ;)
