Unfortunately, we cannot help with centericq anymore, since it's out of
development (dead).

I would suggest you try out the successor of it,  named CenterIM, you can
get your copy via http://www.centerim.org/ - it's also included as a
provisorial debian package on http://fixxxer.cc/pub/centerim

If there are still problems, we look forward to your bug report on our
mailinglist centerim-users-Cffqi/[email protected] .
