What do you use to collect and create RRDs? Is it something you've written yourself or is it a thirdparty tool?

is there a way to use the monitor thresholds without using the cricket collector?
i generate the rrd file by another polling engine and i use cricket just as front end, but I'm
interested to use the monitor threshold function.
