Further research shows that RRDs *created* with librrds-perl and
rrdtool v1.0.49 (from Debian sarge) do not exhibit this behavior.

Unfortunately, rrdtool v1.0.49 can't read rrdtool v1.2.15's RRDs, so
I can't really test whether it's how the data is being stored vs how
it's being read.

I think I'll find a rrdtool mailing list to report the bug to, then
figure out a way to dump all ~100 of my RRDs, downgrade rrdtool,
and then restore them.
