Running collect-subtrees normal Perl Interpreter error

Hi I am running into this error - located in the 'normal.0' file - while
performing step 10 of the newbies installation guide.  Can anyone help
please???

"sh: /home/cricket/cricket/collector: /usr/local/bin/perl: bad interpreter:
No such file or directory"
