RRD parse errors when collecting

Hello,

I'm getting the following parse errors:
can't parse argument 'DS:ds0:COUNTER:1800:0:'

I get this for rrd-ds-type GAUGE, DERIVE and COUNTER.  The value I'm polling is a read-only counter.  This is first time I've hit this error, any suggestions?
