I was looking at the code for setting the shells dropdown, but I'll look 
at that too. Not used GTK before, so I've been struggling. If I don't 
come right can you take a look at the patch for me? I'll post it as it 
stands then.

Samba v3.0 keeps information about the individual domains inside the 
LDAP server, where v2.2 didn't seem to (it only kept user info). In 
addition, Samba 3 stores the SID of the user which includes the SID of 
the domain, as opposed to Samba 2.2 where just the RID was stored and 
the SID came from elsewhere. This is the reason for all the jumping 
through hoops.

I've also tried to support the idea that one big LDAP tree with one big 
collection of users (possibly in different branches) might be spread out 
into many Windows domains, thus the need for the dropdown.
