Hi, I would like to ask for a new release. I submitted a patch a few days ago, which fixes an important problem regarding protocol version binding. LDAP API specifies that libraries default to LDAPv2 connections, and that you have to explicitly set LDAPv3 if you want it. The bug in directory administrator was with the setting of this option to make an LDAPv3 connection. It was not correctly placed, and also not correctly written. For those two reasons, it did not work. Directory administrator is currently only capable of making LDAPv2 connections, which most - but not all LDAP servers allow. With those two bugs, directory administrator can not connect to recent versions of OpenLDAP, which disable LDAPv2 connections by default. This is what happened to me the very first time I tried to use this software. I wrote a patch in 10 minutes, and had it working. But I'm an LDAP expert, and I know what I'm looking for. Others will just wonder why the software doesn't work. I could submit some other patches as well, if the project is still in an "active" state. It seems like too good of a software to just let it rot away in an unmaintained state. BTW: GQ is looking for a new maintainer. What is the status with directory administrator?
