user folders not being created while creating accounts

Hi !
I am using Directory Administrator 1.3 with Open LDAP
and am facing a peculiar problem . Iam able to connect to the ldap 

database with my profile and create groups. The problem comes when 

I create users . On creating users the DA creates the user and 

makes neccessary entries into the ldap database but does not create 

a folder for the user in /home directory. I am therfore not able to 

access mail for the created user. If I create the /home/user folder 

manually then everything starts working
Can anyone tell me why is my DA not creating user folders in /home 

folder
