Yes, and to make matters worse, no OSS administrative tool that I know
of at least supports this.

Dieter: Installing OpenLDAP has always been like installing a SQL
server: you wouldn't expect your personnel to manage your data with SQL
text commands, wouldn't you?  Recent additions do not change this one
bit.
