    I'll see about picking some changes out of that.  There's a lot of
noise in there due to built sources.  I wish djb had included a
'clean' target.  BTW, the cited URLs for the original patches are no
longer valid.
    If I merge the bits you really care about, are you interested in
doing any testing?  I'm nervous about making non-trivial code changes
until I have a good test suite in place.
