I have installed DJB software on Slackware (3.5 and up), Freebsd (3.0 
and up) Solaris (5 through 9), NetBSD, and a few others I am forgetting. 
It was never hard, in fact DJB software was some of my greatest 
successes when I first switched from Mac admin to Unix admin.

Trying to get around build tool dependencies in "conventional" software, 
that has driven me to drinking a few times.

Maybe I don't see the presumed advantage, but then again I haven't 
missed the presumed advantage either.
