The deployed version should be marked obsolete. However, I do have a complete rewrite in private use now. It provides functionality close to redo with along with build extensions I require, like automatic borrowing of source files into the current project. It depends only on sh and awk but exhibits some performance limitations that I don't care much about at present. Provided that the structure of your build does not change you can generate Makefile and gain speed. It lacks documentation but works essentially like build.
