Thanks for the reply and pointing out the SMTP angle. For reasons beyond
my control(part of which is I don't actually own it), I am not able to
setup txt(spf) records for aaa.mydomain.com in the example below. That's
why I am using this round about way.

It would be better for clients if you can just publish the records
under both names.  It will save them having to restart their queries.

Yes and no.  Recursive MX/TXT queries for aaa.mydomain.com will return
a CNAME record pointing to aaa.myotherdomain.com along with
aaa.myotherdomain.com's MX/TXT records, but you should be aware that
SMTP requires clients to rewrite [email protected] to
[email protected] before sending it.  This may or may not be a
problem for you.
