In addition to the other helpful replies you've received, it should also
be noted that dnscache will always update its cache with information
received in the authoritative section of a DNS reply.

So in practice, this may not be a concern for you since your cache will
have the "child's" RRs as soon as the child serves a record...  assuming
dnscache is the only cache looking at your data, of course.  Other cache
servers' behavior may differ.
