That's forgetting that browsers have become application delivery platforms - Flash, Java and Javascript are allowing such complex applications to be run inside the browser that it's a small miracle they don't crash more often. And crash (or become unresponsive, etc.) they all do, from Explorer to Opera via Firefox to Safari and Chrome.
