Vicki, one minor nit:

The "Internet" with a capital "I", like "The DNS" with a capital "T" (and 
a capital "D"), specifically refers to the technology deployments operated 
by ICANN.

For that purpose it is incorrect that "Every device connected to the 
Internet has at least a unique... address associated with it.". To make a 
political argument buttressing this position the cloud providers 
generally, and some cloud providers very specifically, arrogate the need 
to provide reverse DNS (colloqually "PTR records") with the justification 
(technically correct or not) that more than one server is behind each of 
their addresses (for "society" and "privacy" if not for the "children"):

Other technologies such as NAT, load balancing and virtualization, and 
VPNs produce the same impact from a client as well as service perspective.
