I apologize, I was misunderstanding the log output. I had to find some query logs to understand what was going on. I don't log queries on most of my BIND instances (I use Dnstap instead). (The parenthesized address is the server address, if I understand correctly). My motivation was to see what you got when you attempted to resolve something (under com.) which did not exist; you report that it doesn't resolve, so we've answered that question. But what I had in mind was based on a misunderstanding of the log output, so I don't have anything further to offer here. -- Fred Morris, internet plumber On Wed, 7 Jan 2026, Philip Prindeville wrote: > >> On Jan 6, 2026, at 11:59 PM, Fred Morris <[email protected]> wrote: >> >> I apologize, because this is mostly prurient... >> >> On Tue, 6 Jan 2026, Philip Prindeville via bind-users wrote: >>> >>> Jan 6 12:18:34 OpenWrt2 named[12284]: client @0x7fdcf4525400 >>> 192.168.3.4#58467 (www.yahoo.com): query: www.yahoo.com IN HTTPS + >>> (192.168.3.1) >> >> Could you please provide the results for can.i-have-more-pudding-sir.com? >> >> Without the question mark ("?"). > > > That doesn't resolve for me.
