Well, first I would like to clarify something:

If I use the postgre's unix_socket connection, postgres still listening and answering requests for the network?

My question is because I read the following error when I put the connection string suggested by Kris Nielander (that is the same of the documentation):

named -f -g
27-Apr-2009 16:31:51.037 starting BIND 9.4.2-P2 -f -g

27-Apr-2009 16:31:51.054 SDLZ driver failed to load.
27-Apr-2009 16:31:51.054 DLZ driver failed to load.
27-Apr-2009 16:31:51.054 loading configuration: failure
27-Apr-2009 16:31:51.054 exiting (due to fatal error)

So, could someone (maybe you Kris ;) ) having dlz running by using just /tmp for the host, (like so {host=/tmp dbname=DATABASE user=USER}) show me the output while dlz is working for:
1.- ls -l -a /tmp
I hope to find some output to help me to at least identify the name of the socket.
2.- I need to see the value passed to the connection settings of postgres, some values that I have are:
listen_addresses = '*'
port = 5901
unix_socket_directory = '/var/run/postgresql' ->I tried change host=/var/run/postgresql in my connection string, and still give me the same error.
unix_socket_permissions = 0777
#unix_socket_group = 'postgres' -> Is commented.

ls -l -a /var/run/postgresql show me the following output:
-rw-------  1 postgres postgres   6 2009-04-27 16:19 8.3-main.pid
srwxrwxrwx  1 postgres postgres   0 2009-04-27 17:17 .s.PGSQL.5901
-rw-------  1 postgres postgres  35 2009-04-27 17:17 .s.PGSQL.5901.lock

Well, that’s all for now. Thank you very much at all willing to help.

PD: Excuse my little language, but English is not my native language.

Just use /tmp for the host, like so

{host=/tmp dbname=DATABASE user=USER}

Cheers,
