I am a little green to this Linux stuff, mostly using Launchd on OS X,  
I have an /etc/init.d/named file:

Looking at lines 30 - 32 woudld I just change that to append the flags?

if [ -x /usr/sbin/named-sdb ]; then
         named='named-sdb -n 1'
fi

 From /var/log/messages I have this when named-sdb starts up:

I am wondering if redoing this *without* postgres, ldap, sqlite, dir  
db, would help me at all to at least make it a more lean build?

The one line:
--enable-threads does that prove that I have threads, and that is a  
pretty bad thing?

Curious, is there no way that a check can be made for the threading  
mode, and send an alert to the logs, or even fail to start the process  
to prevent from getting into this situation?
