I had core dumping on RedHat, which turned out to be related to this: http://bind-dlz.sourceforge.net/mysql_driver.html Are you certain that you have -enable-threads=no when you built BIND, assuming you are only using MySql just for this case, or, since I was using shared MySql, I just sent in "-n 1" to named when it started, and the core dumping stopped. It would be nice to have the machine not dump, maybe even refuse to start if it does not see single threaded mode, and force the correct setting. In the meantime you may want to read up on this section of the docs. I do not remember all the details, but I do remember, there were times I thought I was passing "-n 1" when I really was not, so make certain you check the that it us running with the correct arguments.
