When I configured BIND to listen on an alternate port (1053 or 2053 or ..., you get the idea), after a few queries, it would cause a panic and thus a reboot of my computer. Definitely not just a "you" issue. I saw this last September because I was using named -- installed with brew -- as part of the tests associated with the DNSViz package for Homebrew. The package tests start named on a custom port and issue queries to it. Running those tests crashed the entire test system [1]. I didn't spend time looking more into it, and I forgotten about it until I read this message... I'm curious what is causing that full system crash.
