relocation error?

I'm trying to run Posadis on a RedHat 8.0 machine with kernel version 
2.4.20-13.8 downloaded from RedHat.  I downloaded posadis-0.50.9-0.i386.rpm 
and installed it with rpm -ivh.  After seeing some warnings about user 
group meilof  not existing it seemed to install.  However when I try to 
start posadis I get the following error:

posadis: relocation error: /usr/lib/libreadline.so.4: undefined symbol: BC

and posadis doesn't start.

I'm a Linix newbie so I have no idea what this means.  Can anyone tell me 
how to get posadis up and running?
