Colour me stupid (and too old for this stuff), but first I thought the
'pdns' project on Github was Authoritative only. CH then corrected me
and said it also contains Recursor.

I've re-read the front-page README at https://github.com/PowerDNS/pdns
and there is no mention of either. :-(

Does this need lots of clarification, including different build
instructions for both components?

Just a thought.
