We are proud to announce the first release candidate of what should become =
PowerDNS Recursor 4.4.0.

Compared to the beta release, this release fixes two bugs:

=E2=80=A2 Only do QName Minimization for the names inside a forwarded domai=
n,
=E2=80=A2 Fix the parsing of `dont-throttle-netmasks` in the presence of `d=
ont-throttle-names`.

We want to thank everyone that contributed to the testing of the beta relea=
se, and invite you to contribute to the testing of this release candidate!

The tarball[2] (signature[3]) is available at the download site[4]=20
and packages for CentOS 6, 7 and 8, Debian Stretch and Buster,
Ubuntu Xenial, Bionic and Focal are available from our repository[5].

4.0 and older releases are EOL, refer to the documentation[6] for=20
details about our release cycles.
