default-soa-edit and SOA-EDIT-API

Could someone kindly clarify that if I have default-soa-edit set in my conf file, I don't need to worry about SOA-EDIT-API  ?

The docs for the default-soa-edit setting only metion SOA-EDIT but are silent on SOA-EDIT-API.
