It has a self-extracting, fantastic installation program included. 1) If using CD-RW, or DVD, you need these loaded in /etc/modules.conf, note you must change the b/u device name: # Adding ide-scsi for CD-ROM # If CD/DVD on Secondary Master, then it would be "hdc" # Add to /etc/modules.conf #-- Microlite Corporation --CD Start options ide-cd ignore=hde pre-install sg modprobe ide-scsi pre-install sr_mod modprobe ide-scsi pre-install ide-scsi modprobe ide-cd #-- Microlite Corporation --CD End--# I think adding ide-scsi allows any streaming backup program to write to CD-RW, DVD, such as tar. But haven't tried it yet. A menu system starts for doing all the setup; if you have a sample media in backup device it detects backup devices for you, sets all the device params. Backups/Restores, prepares bootable disaster recovery media on floppy, CD or DVD images. JMHO: Backup, restore, and disaster recovery are critical in a commercial server I don't see how it isn't important to development. I find this product dirt cheap for what it does. Even if I had the source code, I wouldn't want to maintain it, let alone improve it, for the amount of money I pay them. I forgot to mention on my systems with DVD+RW, they back up around 300MB/minute. I guess it would be nice to add an item in Server-Manager. The menu does require a shell, it isn't a web interface. It does include command line versions of all the primary functions, edge command lines are a superset of tar. Does SME 6 come with, or has anyone ported the ability to use USB devices, such as USB DVD/CD on SME 6? -- Please report bugs to [email protected] Please mail [email protected] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [email protected] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected] Searchable archive at http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org
