Meeting notes

Folks,

On 12/3 contribs.org sponsored a conference call with a number of folks that
have been involved in either developing or adding to the SME Server in order
to get some organizational ideas flowing.

The attendees were:  Dan York, Michael Soulier, Hsing-Foo Wang, Greg
Zartman, Shad Lords, Darrell May, and myself.  Dan York and Michael Soulier
represented themselves and did not represent Mitel officially.

Dan indicated that from his and Michael's point of view, they wanted to have
a wait and see attittude as to their future participation in this ongoing
project.  Dan stated that from his perspective they didn't want to
participate in the early stages of organization in order to avoid "founder's
syndrome".  They would like to give us enough time/room to run and develop
our own style.

After that, Dan and Michael signed off.

The rest of us discussed a broad series of issues, making sure that no firm
decisions were made until the entire community could be involved.  We
discussed:

-Where to host ISOs as they become available (either by Mitel or internally
developed)

-Mirror locations

-Is contribs.org the appropriate location to host the project

-Migrating forums and dev-info

-How to best host developer contribs so that the community can find and
deploy them

-Whether to establish a contrib "certification" process

-Bug reporting and tracking.  To whom and how?


Once again, no decisions have or will be made without broad community
discussion.

As far as contribs.org goes, we have been extremely gratified to see how
many of you have responded to us and offered to volunteer work, money, or
other resources.  We're just in the process of figuring out what we need and
where we're short and we will get back to you as soon as possible to take
you up on your kind offers.

Keep your eyes on contribs.org over the next few weeks as we have big plans
for a facelift and more features.
