Disgusting is a hard word, perhaps I should say: "funny".
However: Simply not realistic.
That's not an ns2 problem. It's simply extremely hard to provide a sound
CSMA/CA simulation.
Honestly: I'm not fully convinced that a convincing CSMA/CA simulation
is possible at all. This is particularly a question to communication
engineers.
I don't mind estimating a possible throughput on a rough average basis
as a "rule of thumb" in a particular simulation.
However, we must not take those long term averages as a justification to
predict or to simulate the link/network behaviour for individual packets
with a time resolution in the area of milliseconds or less.
