@Tim:
Yes, I compiled with PXE_STRICT and aven PXE_DHCP_STRICT, without success.
And, in the meantime I switched to Version 5.4.0.

@Geert:
The problem is not "mba.pxe". It is just the PXE menu boot file, which loads
the "*.sys" file which is too big to be loaded directly. The "Keep BASE"
error message is coming from here.
Nevertheless there must be a problem with etherboot, because if I use the
original flashrom (containing emboot) it works, but if I use the etherboot
flashrom I get the "Keep BASE" error message. The combination of "mba.pxe"
and "*.sys" also works for many other NICs that are PXE capable (Intel,
Broadcom, ...).

The original flashrom is no option for certain reasons, and etherboot is the
only part that could be modified (open source has always been more flexible
than commercial products).
