Sure - I can do that *now* (and I did, indeed, in order to test my patches)
but until I had a somehow functional PROM I had to walk...

Unfortunately, this whole thing was not really my project - I was 
helping out
a colleague - and I'm not sure my bosses will be delighted if I devote more
time to this...
