Already done. For a preview of what will be moved into Etherboot 5.5 CVS
in a week or so, check out
:ext:cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/gpxe/gpxe/gpxe-0/src
It allows for the building of any Etherboot image (with any custom
options) in under half a second, easy enabling of debugging ("make
bin/rtl8139.zdsk DEBUG=pci, tftp", for example), banishes "#ifdef" to the
"considered harmful" category while still allowing features to be included
or excluded at will, and provides a mechanism for guaranteeing that any
build of Etherboot, with any custom options, will compile and link without
errors.
