For me, on a fresh Debian system, it is not possible the build
a working 5.5  dsk image. ( using unmodified current CVS )

I have put the builded build library on-line, those who are interrested can

 wget http://www.stappers.nl/gst/temporary/blib.a

it for further analyzes.

The toolchain that I use, does build working etherboot-5.4 images.
Version numbers are 
 gcc (GCC) 3.3.6 (Debian 1:3.3.6-6)
 GNU ld version 2.16 Debian GNU/Linux
