Hi

We are having a problem of excessive traffic from webservers to file server.
95% of the traffic is smb traffic around 10Mbps when we have 20 hits per
second on webserver. 50% of SMB commands i can see from packet capture are
NT TRANS, NT NOTIFY with SRT of 30 seconds even. I think these NT Notify are
just to notify some process that X directory or Y file has been modified...
Is it some default behaviour of IIS .We dont have any monitoring set in
these webservers i.e to monitor for logs but still i am getting lots of NT
NOTIFY for the log files which are in fileserver (being modified).
There are around 20 log files wirriten by different application accessing
fileserver which are even not related to the web server but still i am
getting notifications is this default IIS or SMB or .... behaviour to
monitor file changes on mounted drives ....

Regards
Adnan Younas
