Segmentation Fault and capturing on promiscuous interface in tethereal

Hi all,
I compiled and built ethereal. When I execute tethereal, I get the error-
"Segmentation fault". What's the cause of this error?
Also, I have another version of tethereal that doesn't give a Segmentation
fault, but the problem is that it doesn't capture on an interface that's
already in promiscuous mode. It works fine on interfaces that are not in
promiscuous mode. What changes do I need to make so that tethereal captures
packets on interfaces that are already in promiscuous mode?

Any help will be highly appreciated.
