Everybuddy project handover

Dear all,

	As anyone who has been following the project recently will know, development 
on the Everybuddy codebase has effectively drawn to a halt, following the 
recent prolonged server outage. The old codebase is therefore being 
officially put out of its misery and end-of-lifed.

	Colin Leroy and others have created a fork called Ayttm ("Are you talking to 
me?"), which continues under active development at 
http://www.nongnu.org/ayttm. This is now the official successor to the 
original Everybuddy, and will be linked to from the Everybuddy.com website as 
such.

	The Everybuddy project will, however, continue on. The rewrite that is 
currently code-named EB-lite will become the main Everybuddy tree, slightly 
ahead of schedule. Development continues apace, and we expect (ha ha) to be 
in beta fairly soon - probably within a couple of months.

	As part of this transfer, Rob Lazzurs, who has served as project maintainer 
for several years, has decided to step down from his post due to sheer lack 
of time. I have been nominated as his successor (*puffs up chest*), and would 
in this capacity like to thank everyone who has contributed to Everybuddy 
over the years, and wish both the Ayttm development team (many of whom are 
exactly the same people) and the new crew of EB-lite the very best of luck.
