Yap! I belong to Informatics, so it would be rediculous if they didn't allow Linux or Unix in general! But they really have done silly things with the network and I am not sure that they know exactly what they are doing, at least some people! They claim that no HTTPS is allowed, still I can connect to HTTPS ... For the time being I am using ssh to connect to another network that uses gaim etc. but still ... Anyway if you know something that might help a bit more, much appreciated. I myself am a bit ingnorant with networks, proxies and firewalls so all help appreciated ... it is always interesting to learn new things anyway ... Cheers, Marina ------ Original Message ------ Can you connect to the internet at all in Linux? Cause the Uni might be blocking connections from anything except windows boxes. ---------- On Wednesday, March 05, 2003 07:37:44 AM +0200, papoutsakia <[email protected]> wrote: ---------- > Hi, > > I am a new member of EB and I really need your help, I just moved to the > university's halls and I am forced to use the network, with all the > constrictions that this means.
