Yes, of course. I should have specified this :)
I've been working on the assumption that logs are divided by contact. Group 
chat logs would be easy - they could be done with one log file per group chat 
session, and they don't grow too umanageably large. However, the per-contact 
log file for my best friend currently clocks in at nearly 7MB. Definitely 
unacceptable for viewing all at once...
