For example, if a Yahoo user just sent us the string (b) - a perfectly possible occurrence - they will just see the characters. However, for MSN, that string is a little picture of a beer mug. If EB implements a uniform superset of all smileys, then it will show the beer mug where it wasn't intended, and the sending (native) Yahoo user won't see it.
