It's the Big Bountiful Birthday Bash release! Everyone go pester Meredydd, who is 17 today! (err...yesterday, actually, but the release was delayed. Sorry, folks!) What? You want technical details? Isn't it enough to know that I'm now legally old enough to drive? Fine, if you insist... This release brings you an asynchronous connect routine (no more hung EB when the server's down), a fix to a nasty Yahoo segfault (sorry...), and a brand new command-line interface, eb-cmd. Alpha-5 also introduces the ABS, or Alternative Build System. For the core only (ebqt isn't affected), this replaces the dreaded autotools tangle with a set of rather generic Makefiles, and also reduces the tarball size by a good few hundred kilobytes (*cough* bloatware *cough*). Download the ABS tarball and check out the instructions in the file INSTALL_ABS.
