I agree with the thinking towards fink. (I used to love it, but it
became inherently unadministerable on my system.) Have you looked at
OpenDarwin's DarwinPorts?
http://www.opendarwin.org/projects/darwinports/

I think this way is overall better, since it appears that DarwinPorts is
aimed at Darwin on both platforms. It also doesn't make you source a
shell script to initialize the environment at login.

Oh, yeah. Almost forgot... I'll be more than happy to test the J2ME
implementation! My phone is the ultimate way to kill time... ;) I don't
know any Java in the first place, so I can't be much use in the coding
of it. But I can pound on it...

P.S. Since I haven't been able to get EB-lite to compile on any of the
platforms I use (for the most part they're all in the TODO list in some
way, shape, or form...), I was wondering if EB-lite has (working) IRC
support.

P.P.S. alpha-5 won't compile for me. The autotools version dies
compiling yahoo.c and the ABS version dies on compiling msn.

OK, I've released alpha-5, and now I'm trying to get a handle on what's
next.
From what I can see, this is the big TODO right now:

Core ---
  + Message logging
  + Jabber
+ Fix up talking to people not on your buddy list

UI ---
+ More of them! Specific niches:
+ Windows (may be filled by ebqt with some cunning magic)
+ Mac OS X (without having to do all kinds of fink stuff)
  + Web based
+ Mobile platforms (J2ME, WAP) <-- working on this soon!
+ ncurses - anyone wanting to try this out might want to check out
	http://konst.org.ua/ktools/

EBQt ---
  + Emoticons

Right, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Others we've
managed
to distil?
