Sometime Today, Meredydd Luff assembled some asciibets to say: > What I envisioned was this: > Program loads basic emoticon set. This fills out a default set of > string->image file mappings, as well as providing the image files. Right, I'm with you so far. > Program then loads subsequent emoticon sets. These can supercede any smiley > string, for specific protocols if they wish. Specific protocol overrides take > priority over general mappings. I'm with you here too. What I'm saying is this: We have a default smiley set. We also have available a msn smiley set and a yahoo smiley set. The user chooses to use msn smiley set. In one conversation, he's using yahoo, and the msn smiley set does not have all smileys that yahoo requires. In this case, the default option would be to use a smiley from the default smiley set, which may also not implement it. In this case, the yahoo service module could hint at the fact that it prefers the smileys from the yahoo smiley set, so use that if you can't find it anywhere else. Hmm... somehow I think I've made it sound more complex than I wanted to. If anyone understands this and can explain it better, please do :P Philip
