Everybuddy doesn't actually use the 'nickname' that ICQ uses. (This is true for all the supported protocols). If you right-click, I think (I haven't got EB in front of me right now) there is an option to Edit a contact, in that dialogue, you can rename the contact and assign them a more specific group. It is done this way because EB was designed for multiple chat protocols. 'Contacts', are basically a collection of 'accounts' grouped together that allow you to get in touch with one particular user over whatever protocol they have an account for. While, yes, EB could use the nickname (Friendly Name in MSN) as a default, if you have one person with multiple contacts, but different nicknames, how would EB know which one is correct?
