true, we're trying to separate out all gui stuff, and it's happening, 
but slowly.  There's also several issues that we've faced with Gtk, 
especially with the windows port (Edward, who's doing windows for both 
projects can comment on that).  I also get the feeling that it's getting 
a little too heavy, but hopefully once all cleanups are done, it will 
lighten up.

The services however, are stable.

and a good one too.  we have made a few clean ups, but the current 
filter system in ayttm is pretty much exactly what you did...

...so, yes, with a little luck, and a couple of #ifdef's, you could 
probably write the same code to work for ayttm and eb-lite.
