Nice to hear that some of these things are already on track and that everything else seems to already be planned. :) >> Also, one thing I love about Sprint PCS's AIM client is that it will >> send a notification to my phone (apparently via email, since SMS >> requires me to launch my browser to read it) whenever I get a new >> message with the URL to AIM. Does/will the project offer such a >> feature where the core will send an email notification upon receipt of >> a new message? > Yes, in a way. This is the realm of my next core-side project (which I > will be taking up when I get subversion access back), the VPA (Virtual PA). > Thwe VPA will be capable of answering incoming queries, giving information > about where you are and when you'll be back (to certain contacts only, > based on an ACL), taking messages, and trying various methods of getting > hold of you (email, SMS, making a noise from the sound card, > blank-calling...). Unfortunately, as I say, I can't work on it at the moment. Sounds good, can't wait. :) >> BTW, the URL for such a thing with a midlet is along the line of >> midlet:MidletName?params , where ?params is optional and parsed by the >> midlet. For example, my RealOne player uses URLs like >> midlet:RealOneJava?http://mobile1.rbn.com:80/mobile/abc/abc/n/newsbrie >> f/ >> 15 and midlet:RealOneJava?adjustvolume . > Um...que? What do you mean by "such a thing"? I'm a bit lost, I'm afraid... Sorry, I meant sending a URL to a phone to launch a midlet. Since most phones have "Go" buttons or similar now when a message contains a URL, it should be quite useful for notifications. I'll try to find the spec on Sun's site later. >> P.S. How much were you thinking about for hosted core rates? Also, >> will you be accepting credit cards for payment or just PayPal? > I'm honestly not sure about rates, let alone methods of payment - > I'll need to talk to Rob about the bandwidth costs. I'm also considering > possibly charging a bit more than the bandwidth alone, and distributing > any extra among developers (nothing like motivation :^) ), but as I say, it's > only an idea. In any case, it's not a huge service, so there's no point in > charging the earth for it. Personally, I feel that > US$10 may be a bit much... Then again, I'm not hooked on it yet... Ask me again in a month or so... ;) >Anyway, this is all speculative - it'll be free to all comers for quite a while, while we work the glitches out. >> P.P.S. Mobile Tron doesn't work on my phone either; I get a 906 error >> for it, as well. > Hmm. Probably the Midlet-Name thing, then. I'll post when I've uploaded new versions for you to try... Both midlets are still giving a 906. I'll take a look at the JADs at lunch in a couple hours to see what may be wrong. I'll let you know whether I get a working JAD.
