Oh, yes, this is one of those Really Joyful Things. You see, the 
autotools people decided that, because 2.53 to 2.57 was such a large 
version jump, now was the time to introduce backwards-incompatible 
changes that would break many existing build scripts. I'm told that 
large chunks of KDE won't build without autoconf 2.53, and it would 
appear that ebqt suffers from the same problem. Chris is working on 
fixing this, but I think we're just going to have to accept that 
alpha-11 will suffer from it. Get autoconf 2.53.
