Yep, Chris knows I've been after him on this one for quite some time :-P

The status drop-down, now I think about it, could do with some 
modification - perhaps a click-on-the-username dropdown like MSN and 
Yahoo do, but on the other hand, how is that different to what we have 
now? Only in that you click on a dropdown box with the status in it 
rather than an icon with the status next to it.

The two checkboxes represent "Connected" and "Ready", which are two 
attributes of a local account - if some kind of dialogue with the 
server is in progress, Connected is true. If the local account is ready 
to set status, talk to buddies, and so on, Ready is true. I've always 
been keen for Chris to get around to representing these two as a 
traffic light - red for 0,0, amber for 1,0, green for 1,1.
