Afair FL always worked in the same manner, right?

It requires some coding, but I don't think that it's a very difficult thing. 
I'll try to implement this wish. Another important wish was to keep the 
envelope fields unchanged while changing a template inside the message 
editor. So I've got something to do next year :)
