Just as a side note, to anyone reporting bugs, please look at the System Console. I happened to guess what this problem was right off, but I know that it is dumping a bunch of stuff to the console at the same time. Thanks for pointing it out. Try it when it hits CVS. The transmutable emoticons (click on the emoticon to change it back to text, click again, it is an emoticon again, thanks Colter) was breaking this because it didn't properly escape XML characters such as < and >, making the XML parser barf. > Additionally, random new msgs, which open a new window, or new tab, > display blank lines, in Fire, msgs which contain text, seems to occur > also, when no webstyles are enabled either. Once such an emoticon goes through, it can really screw things up from that point on. If not, I must be misreading your statement and could you describe it a bit more. > Also, still having an issue with Fire CVS builds, using up too much > CPU time on occasion. > Try the snapshot builds posted in the topic of the irc channel (deployment build, optimizers on, date of build mentioned in the topic). I have suspected that Quicktime is to blame for this. I bet you have at least one kind of sounds play. I have changed how the sounds play in the snapshot builds only (not in CVS) a few days ago as a test to make sure I don't break anything else and to see if it fixes things. Also, the fix will use a bit more CPU and disk, so I would rather make sure it really fixes it before putting into CVS. Last time, I saw this, the snapshot was set so that playing a new sounds releases the old. I saw the CPU increase, induced a sounds to play (buddy logged on), and CPU usage stopped. I have change the snapshot builds so that sounds are release the moment they are done playing. Have yet to see it again. Tell me how it goes with the snapshot builds and their CPU usage. I will try to make another snapshot later tonight with this emoticon fix. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Graham Booker Texas A&M University [email protected] Graduate Student in ELEN ------------------------------------------------------------------
