Hi, Bernhard.

LiveJournal (http://www.livejournal.com/) has started a Jabber server  
which has interface capabilities to other LJ functionality. That's  
the server which won't accept connections. Details at http:// 
www.livejournal.com/chat/. I don't have any connection to jabber.org.

Your issues with GoogleTalk might be similar to mine with LJTalk.
